While remodeling design requirements vary by project almost all remodeling will require some level of design to be successful. During the design process we will work closely with you to develop a project that meets your needs but also targets the budget you set out.
There are many choices at this point in the project that involve the design of your project. Let's take a minute to consider a few. Whether or not any or all of these designers are needed will depend on the scope of your project. The costs associated with them will also vary and we will discuss this early in the process of developing your project.
Architects
A common question is "Do I need an architect for my project?". Depending on the scope of your project you may or may not need the services of a professional architect. If you're project is a fairly straight forward kitchen or bath remodeling project it will likely not require these services. However, if the scope of your project will impact multiple rooms or especially in the case of an addition, the services of a architect will be very valuable. "But architects are too expensive." Because it seems like you get a set a drawings for the fee you pay an architect, and you have'nt even built anything yet, the cost can seem like a lot to add to your project. The important thing to remember about hiring and architect is that you do not pay them for a set of drawings, you pay them for their experience and expertise.
One other important conisderation when it comes to architects is that a well thought out and detailed design is much less likely to encounter surprise costs along the way. When we develop a project with one of our architects we are able to thoroughly quantify the scope of the work.
Kitchen Designers
As the name suggests a kitchen designer specializes in the layout, optimization and design of kitchen and usually bathroom cabinetry as well. If the scope of your project involves a kitchen and is not broad enough to require the services of an architect a kitchen designer may be needed to develop the layout of your new space. We also often utilize kitchen designers in tandem with architects to develop your kitchen on a more granular level.
Interior Designers
Almost every project can benefit from at least some input from an experienced interior designer. Whether it simply for paint and fixtures selections or as broad as furniture layouts and window treatments these professionals are valuable in pulling the entire "feel" of your project together.
